Given my love for sharing information and experiences, there are a number of products I'd like to recommend as well. These are either items that I personally use and truly love, or products that I have heard many good reviews about from other parents.

Please note: These are simply my personal recommendations. They are not meant to encourage children to ask their parents for these items, or to purchase them without parental consent. This is purely meant as a reference for parents who may be considering these products and looking for reviews.

Xiaomi Smart Kids Watch
Firstly, I should mention that I do not own the Xiaomi Smart Kids Watch. However, having tried other brands such as "no-brand" kids smart watch, Oj_y, and M_Fi__t, I’ve had my fair share of complaints with all of them. A close friend who journeyed alongside me with these watches (also owning Oj_y and M_Fi__t) shared the same frustrations.

Now that my daughter has graduated from primary school, she naturally uses a mobile phone. But my friend, who still has younger kids, switched to the Xiaomi Smart Kids Watch and highly recommends it. I trust her feedback so much that if my daughter were still in primary school, I would definitely choose Xiaomi for her. I’ve also come across many positive reviews about the Xiaomi Smart Kids Watch in parenting Facebook groups, and I would really love to try it out if I had the chance!

I love using an e-reader because it does not strain the eyes as much as normal screens. I first bought an Amazon Kindle for my daughter, but it was not compatible with borrowing e-books from the National Library Board (NLB). After using it for a few years (most of the time spent reading and re-reading Harry Potter series), I decided to get her a new one: the Rakuten Rakuten Kobo Clara Colour.

I absolutely love how convenient it is. With the Kobo, I can borrow e-books directly from NLB, and I don't have to worry about overdue fines since the books are auto-returned. It also saves money as I don't need to keep buying e-books or physical books that take up space at home but are hard to part with. I'm totally in love with this Kobo! Whenever she is not using it, I borrow some books for myself too.

LCD Writing Tablet
This was a really handy and useful item for us during PSLE preparation. While waiting for or travelling on public transport, we made use of the time on the bus or MRT to practise spelling and 听写 using this LCD Writing Tablet. It was very convenient as I did not have to waste paper, and the tablet was small enough to slip into my bag and light enough not to weigh me down. Beyond commuting, I would also take it out whenever we had small pockets of waiting time, such as standing in a queue.

This pen is by far the best one I’ve come across. My daughter first received it as a pre-PSLE gift from her teacher, and when we tried it out, we were amazed at how smooth it was to write with. I immediately bought more from Shopee so she could use them during the PSLE. Now, I carry one with me too, and I absolutely love using it. Best of all, the price is super affordable!

Countdown Desk Calendar
We used this countdown calendar to mark the days leading up to PSLE. The daily ritual of flipping the calendar served as a visual reminder that the exam was approaching, helping my daughter stay mindful of her preparation. She was also doing a study vlog for her YouTube channel, and the calendar became a helpful way for her to record and track her countdown to PSLE.

Celebrate every small win! I treasure every certificate my daughter receives, as each one is proof of the effort she has put in. I also laminate them to keep them in good condition and prevent them from turning yellow over time.

Laminating Pouch
This is my go-to brand whenever I need to restock laminating pouches. Great quality at a good price!

After laminating the certificates, I place them in clear plastic sleeve pockets so they can be neatly filed and well-protected.

A4 2-D Ring File
After placing the certificates into plastic sleeve pockets, I file them together in this type of folder. I especially like using transparent folders because they look neat and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

I really love this timer. It looks sleek and modern, and you can set the time simply by rotating it. The large digits on the screen make it easy to keep track of the remaining time while doing homework or studying.

I love experiments, so I really enjoy buying science toys to play with my daughter. Nothing beats learning at home while having fun together, and the bonus is when the activity links to what she is learning in school! I have separate sets for magnets and circuit, but this one has everything together!

I used to buy the sticker-type whiteboard wall sheets and paste them on my daughter's cupboard so she could doodle freely. She really enjoyed drawing on them, and I also used the space to explain concepts to her, just like on a real whiteboard. It was very useful! The Whiteboard Wall Sticker in this link is even better as it uses electrostatic to stick onto surfaces without causing any damage. It instantly transforms any surface into a learning space, and I would definitely have chosen this if I had known about it back then.

This is something I love recommending to friends. Mosquito and insect bites can be really annoying, but this gel provides almost instant itch relief. I always let my daughter carry one in her bag so she doesn't have to suffer through the itch if she gets bitten in school.

My daughter started taking the Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega Junior in primary school, and when she finished that in Primary 6, she switched to the Teen version to continue supplementing her omega intake. Please check suitability with your child’s needs and allergies before use, and consult a doctor if unsure.

Another supplement my girl takes every morning is VisioPro® Kids probiotics. Gut health is very important, as the gut not only supports digestion and nutrient absorption but also plays a key role in the immune system. Research has also shown that the gut and brain are closely connected, meaning a healthy gut can have a positive impact on overall wellbeing, including mood regulation and even anxiety levels. (If you are interested, can read up on gut-brain connection). Please check suitability with your child’s needs and allergies before use, and consult a doctor if unsure.

The supplements shared here are based on my personal experience and are not medical advice. Every child is different, so please do your own research and consult a healthcare professional if needed before starting any supplement. Do take into account your child’s individual needs, medical history, and possible allergies before making a decision.
