First of all, if your child received the eligibility letter along with the PSLE results indicating the eligibility of ESIS, a big congratulations! 🎉 That’s a wonderful recognition of your child’s outstanding PSLE performance.

If your child is heading to an independent school, you may want to know about the Edusave Scholarship for Independent Schools (ESIS).

This scholarship is given to academically strong students and worth up to $2,400 a year. (It’s only open to Singapore Citizens.)

For Secondary 1, the ESIS is offered to the top one-third of students admitted to independent schools, based on their PSLE scores. Students who meet the ESIS cut-off (hear-say it's PSLE Score 5) and get into an independent school through Direct School Admission (DSA) will also be awarded the scholarship.

How long does it last?

4 years if your child is in the O-Level track

6 years if your child is in the Integrated Programme

Of course, the scholarship continues only if your child maintains good progress and conduct each year.

Once your child enters an independent school, the scholarship is applied automatically. No extra forms or applications needed from parents. The award of $2,400 a year is spread across 12 months, which means $200 will be deducted from the school fees each month.
